چکیده

In this paper, we report on the observation of nonlinear effects in a nanostrip phononic metasurface (NPM) that enable tuning resonance frequencies at 1.42 GHz. The NPM resonator made periodic array is fabricated lithium niobate substrate. Each nanostrips 250 nm wide and 680-nm-thick SiO2 layer stacking 50-nm Al metal electrodes. Finite element analysis reveals device operates vertically polarized (compression) mode with substantial acoustic energy confined nanostrips, leading to local low velocity. Due nonlinearity, frequency decreases increase stimulation power. underlying mechanism nonlinearity found be power-dependent coupling adjacent nanostrips. This induces softening substrate surface region, which reduces velocity and, hence, bulk radiation. As result, quality factor improve demonstrates reliable method for realization metasurfaces, would significantly enrich mechanisms manipulation waves high frequencies.

Acoustic beam splitting at low GHz frequencies in a defect-free phononic crystal

The directional waveguiding in a 2D phononic crystal is simulated based on the analysis of equifrequency contours. This approach is utilized to investigate acoustic beam splitting in a defectfree nanostructure in the low GHz range. We find relaxed limitations regarding the source parameters compared to similar approaches in the sonic regime. Finally, we discuss the possibility to design an acou...

Investigation of Locally Resonant Absorption of Phononic Glass

This work experimentally studied locally resonant absorption mechanism in phononic glass. From these results, we attributed its strong sound attenuation to its locally resonant units and its broadband absorption to its networked structure. These experiments also indicated that the porosity of the phononic glass must be tuned to achieve the best sound absorption at given frequencies.

Operation of Graphene Transistors at GHz Frequencies

Top-gated graphene transistors operating at high frequencies (GHz) have been fabricated and their characteristics analyzed. The measured intrinsic current gain shows an ideal 1/f frequency dependence, indicating an FET-like behavior for graphene transistors. The cutoff frequency fT is found to be proportional to the dc transconductance gm of the device, consistent with the relation fT=gm/(2πCG)...

Nonlinear acoustics at GHz frequencies in a viscoelastic fragile glass former.

Using a picosecond pump-probe ultrasonic technique, we study the propagation of high-amplitude, laser-generated longitudinal coherent acoustic pulses in the viscoelastic fragile glass former DC704. We observe an increase of almost 10% in acoustic pulse propagation speed at the highest optical pump fluence which is a result of the supersonic nature of nonlinear propagation in the viscous medium....

Two-dimensional phononic crystals studied using a variational method: Application to lattices of locally resonant materials

A variational method is introduced to study the propagation of elastic waves in two-dimensional periodic systems. First, it has been applied to a binary system consisting of an array of high-density cylinders in an epoxy background, where the advantages of the method are pointing out in regard with the well-known plane-wave expansion formalism. Second, a comprehensive study is performed for the...
